Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are competency-based (CBD) credits valid and recognised?

YES. More and more institutions are realising that individuals should be assessed from all sides, and many are now offering competency-based systems to recognise the prior learning and experience of mature candidates.

Are my CV/resumé and other personal data kept safely?

YES, we comply fully with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

How much time am I given to prepare my portfolio?

This is up to you. There is no pressure or time frame. Candidates can complete their ‘Portfolio of Evidence‘ in as little as a couple of weeks. It depends on how quickly you can gather all the evidence and documents and compare these against the criteria of the qualification you are going for. You will receive guidance during this process. NOTE: Knowing English is not mandatory, as documents may be translated into English.

How long will it take for an assessment once I submit my portfolio?

It can take up to 6 weeks for the Warnborough assessors to evaluate/benchmark your submitted portfolio, depending on how much evidence is submitted. Sometimes this may be affected by an area that may require clarification, a request for missing documents, or some other contingencies which may arise. Our global network of assessors is familiar with Competency-Based Education (CBE), Recognised Prior Learning (RPL), and Lifelong Learning.

What happens if I do not have enough credits for the qualification?

You will be advised clearly on the way forward, and what is required to reach your goal. This may involve some further study, or taking a series of challenge tests, or embarking on a research project. You may be required to submit more documents, or more proof of competencies. Whatever the outcome, the Warnborough team will encourage you and support your effort.

What happens when I gain enough credits for a qualification?

You will receive an official certificate from Warnborough College attesting the assessment/benchmark and the credits recommended. This certificate is a formal document which can be used towards degree recognition at the appropriate level.

What happens next?

You may then apply to receive an award at the pegged level through Warnborough College (Ireland) You may graduate in absentia or attend a convocation ceremony wherever it is held.

How soon can I apply for Stage One?

Dr Brenden and his team will even provide you with a FREE cursory assessment if you send in your CV/resumé. This will give you a general idea about your competencies, and what is required to proceed further.

What are the benefits of a competency-based degree (CBD)?

Make your past learning, experience and achievements count towards your qualification! Your achievements could be translated into credits that go towards an academic award (e.g. MA, MBA, DBA, PhD). You do not have to give up work, study full-time, or redo things you have done.

Am I eligible for a competency-driven qualification?

Take the opportunity to have your competencies assessed and equated with credit. The Warnborough team will guide you through the process. All your Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) is taken into consideration with your experience and any other gained skills.
